Ways to Give

There are a number of different kinds of gifts to support the School and several ways to make a gift.

  • NEWMANfund

Each year, annual gifts cover the cost between tuition and expenses and enhance the educational experience for all students at Newman. Every member of our community is asked to participate, and every gift, regardless of the amount, makes a valuable and immediate difference for our students. Unrestricted NEWMANfund gifts are the highest form of philanthropy and the most powerful gift a donor can make. Our giving year runs from July 1 to June 30.
  • Capital Giving

All building projects and significant campus renovations are made possible through capital gifts. These can be single or multi-year commitments that are used for new building projects or for extensive renovations.
  • Endowment Giving

The Isidore Newman School Foundation is the School’s permanent investment account, which provides income to the School and its programs in perpetuity. Gifts to the endowment can be outright gifts or funded through planned and estate gifts. The Foundation’s investment policy is to spend 5% of a 12-Quarter rolling average. Newman’s endowment is currently $35.7 million, with the majority benefitting financial aid and faculty.
  • Gifts in Kind

Donations of needed goods and services rather than money are considered gifts in kind. Before donating a gift in kind, please contact the Advancement Office (504-896-6371). There are rules and regulations about valuation and tax credits, so we suggest that donors consult with their tax advisor before giving.
  • Matching Gifts

As an employee benefit, over 500 American corporations match their staff’s philanthropic contributions. Matching gifts allow you to double or triple your gift to Newman. To find out if your employer matches gifts, please visit www.matchinggifts.com/newmanschool. After confirming that your employer is a matching gift corporation, please obtain a matching gift form from your employer, fill it out, and send it to Newman with your gift. Our Advancement Office will submit the form to the company’s matching gift department, which sends the matching gift check directly to Newman.
  • Planned Gifts

Gifts may be made via a trust, the donation of your retirement account, insurance policy, or, most commonly, a bequest. The Charles Keller III Society recognizes alumni, parents, grandparents, faculty, former parents, and friends of Newman who wish to leave a lasting legacy at Newman through their estate plans. If you are interested in learning more about including Newman in your estate plans, please contact Sabrina Pilant (504-896-6367) to discuss your wishes.
